The time has arrived for what should be considered one of the most underrated sports around...college baseball is back! Maybe it’s post-football season fatigue, competition with pro sports, or just a lack of promotion, but college baseball doesn’t seem to get the love it deserves. In recent years, the tournament has started to gain more attention with its electric factory of moments. But here’s the thing...the regular season gets just as hyped and, on many days, is an incredible product to watch.
I understand we’re all in the thick of March Madness with college basketball. If you can’t juggle both, at least score-watch, check out TikTok or YouTube highlights, and build your interest so you can jump in by late March or early April. Trust me, it’ll be worth it. Right now, just think about how hyped pro players get during the playoffs or the World Baseball Classic. Now imagine that on a random April night with East Carolina playing Tulane… yeah, it’s a beautiful sight for us true fanatics.
How are you not psyched after those clips?! These kids can play, and just like in college football and basketball, you can start to see who might get drafted by your big-league MLB teams. To me, this is a no-brainer; we need to commit to giving college baseball its flowers.
For those who might need a team or aren’t sure where to start, here are some squads that will give you a fun season to kick off your college baseball fandom.
Teams to Watch in 2025
Arizona State – They used to be a wagon for decades, and now, with former big leaguer Willie Bloomquist at the helm, they’re looking to get back to the good ol’ days. Oh, and they MASH the ball!
Clemson – Top 5 in uniforms, stadium, and pure talent. Plus, they’ll be easy to find on TV with the ACC Network.
Dallas Baptist – This is the one. You might be thinking I’m crazy for putting some D3 team on here...no, no, no, my friends. This squad is always a dark horse for the College World Series and has DUDES!
Of course, no matter which team you choose, you won’t be disappointed in the product. College baseball is here and ready to show the world it wants all the smoke! Let’s start building up college baseball as a sports community and give it the recognition it deserves!
